Dr. Jim Culotta
Dr. Culotta is a 1989 graduate of Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!). He began working at the hospital in 1999, shortly after it opened.
Dr. Culotta's special interests include:
- Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery
- Avian and reptile medicine
- Dermatology
- Canine reproduction
He is a member of the following veterinary associations:
- American Veterinary Medical Association
- American Animal Hospital Association
- Florida Veterinary Medical Association
- Miracle Strip Veterinary Medical Society
Dr. Culotta enjoys spending time with his wife, Sharon, and two children, Kryket and Chase. He has a host of pets, including dogs, cats, goats, rabbits, parrots, peacocks, chickens, ponies and horses. Dr. Culotta unwinds on the weekends by raising and training Welsh ponies and Trakehner horses.
Dr. Laurel Tovrea
Dr. Tovrea is a 2004 graduate of The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). She has been at the hospital since her graduation.
Dr. Tovrea's special interests include:
- Dentistry
- Feline medicine
- Small mammal medicine (ferrets, rabbits, rodents)
- Soft tissue surgery
Dr. Tovrea belongs to the following veterinary associations:
- American Veterinary Medical Association
- American Animal Hospital Association
- American Association of Feline Practitioners
- American Veterinary Dental Society
- Florida Veterinary Medical Association (Gold Star Award winner 2009)
- Miracle Strip Veterinary Medical Society (Secretary/treasurer 2007 and 2008)
- Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians and Association of Sugar Glider Veterinarians
Dr. Tovrea enjoys spending time with her husband, Gavin, and two daughters, Honour and Faith. She also has 5 furry children: Nappy, Clawed, Skippyjon, and Scooter (her 4 cats), and an awesome Boston Terrier named Mosby. Dr. Tovrea is active in her church as a member of the Chancel Choir, Rejoice women's ensemble, Handbell Choir, and Church Council.
